INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT Aamir Khan

1. Aamir Khan was born on 14th March, 1965. It was the festival of "HOLI" on that day and interestingly Aamir Khan's first movie in Bollywood was "Holi",  though he was not the lead in it. 




2. Aamir Khan even played tennis on a national level for India. He was the state tennis champion for Maharashtra. However during his tennis days, he was known by the name"Aamir Hussain" and not "Aamir Khan". 


3. Aamir Khan also can solve the Rubik's cube in record time. In fact, during his college days, he used to solve it using one hand and he used to win small bets with his friends in the canteen.


4. Aamir Khan was an assistant director before becoming an actor and once got scolded by Amrish Puri on the sets of the movie "Zabardast" for which he was assistant director. Interestingly, Aamir and Amrish Puri never got a chance to work with each other in any movie.


5. Aamir Khan married Reena, his first wife on 18 April 1986, Reena makes a guest appearance in the song "Papa Kehte hain" from the movie Qayamat se Qayamat Tak. This day also hosted the particular India Pakistan match in Sharjah which had the last ball six of Javed Miandad off Chetan Sharma.


6. Javed Akhtar first recommended Nasir Hussain to launch Aamir Khan as a lead actor in a romantic movie. Once Javed Akhtar entered to meet Nasir Hussain and saw this young assistant director Aamir Khan working in a corner. Javed Akhtar told Nasir Hussain that this boy had the potential to be a star.


7.Aamir Khan, Raj Zutshi(his co actor in QSQT and Lagaan) himself did the publicity for Qayamat se Qayamat Tak by sticking the movie posters all around the town on the back of auto rickshaws. Even Juhi Chawla joined them in the publicity for the movie.



8. Aamir Khan himself auditioned Juhi Chawla for the movie "Qayamat se Qayamat Tak". It was not her debut movie, she had already starred in the movie "Sultanat" which released in 1986.


9. When QSQT released, it did not get a big opening because of the all new star cast and also the music of the movie was very different from the trend of disco music in the 80's. The movie and its music caught up due to mouth publicity and the movie became a super hit and  a cult classic. Aamir Khan became a star.


10. During his lean phase in the years 1989 till the release of Dil, Aamir Khan was being written off by some critics. However, he came back strongly with Dil which was the biggest hit of 1990. It even grossed more than Sunny Deol mega hit Ghayal. Ghayal and Dil released on the same day.


11. Aamir Khan and Sunny Deol have had interesting release clashes. Ghayal and Dil, Raja Hindustani and Ghatak, Lagaan and Gadar. Interestingly, all the movies were super hits. 


12. Aamir Khan is also an able chess player and this was confessed by none other than Grand master Vishwanathan Anand when the two met and played a game of Chess.


13. Aamir Khan also starred along with South Superstar Rajnikanth in the movie "Aatank Hi Aatank". He respects Rajnikanth and even rejected the upcoming Shankar movie "2.0" on the grounds that he could not imagine anyone else but Rajnikanth playing the character of Robo.


15. Aamir Khan auctioned the bat he used in the movie "Lagaan" when he visited Pakistan on the invitation of Imran Khan. It was auctioned for Imran Khan's Hospital. The bat earned a staggering 6 million in the auction.


16. His favourite cricketers are Saurav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, Geoffrey Boycott. He is also a huge fan of Tennis superstar Roger Federer. His favourite cricketers from Pakistan are Imran Khan and Inzamam Ul Haq. 


17. Aamir Khan's great grand uncle was the famous freedom fighter "Moulana Abul Kalam Azad". He has named his youngest son "Azad" after him. 


18. Aamir Khan openly voiced his concern and protested on the construction of Narmada Dam and wanted the people impacted due to the construction to be given an alternate accommodation. As a result, his movie Fanaa was not released in the Gujarat State.


19. Aamir Khan favourite Bollywood movies of all time are Pyaasa and Mughal E Azam. He has even done a "Pyaasa" resembling Photo shoot along with Katrina Kaif.


20. His favourite actors from Bollywood include Dilip Kumar, Om Puri, Raghuvir Yadav, Govinda. Raghuvir Yadav was a part of his movies Lagaan and Peepli Live. He has seen the Govinda starrer Sandwich which was a flop at the box office multiple times.


21. Aamir Khan in 2001, declined the offer from Madame Tussaud. He did not want people to watch him as a wax statue and rather was interested in seeing people watch his movies.


22. Aamir Khan's favorite Hollywood actors are Leonardo Di Caprio and Daniel Day Lewis. Although many people call Aamir Khan as the Tom Hanks of India due to his ability to play different roles with perfection.

24. Aamir Khan once drank Vodka during the shooting of the song from Raja Hindustani to look authentic. The song is "Tere Ishq mein Naachenge". He is not a habitual drinker.


25. Aamir Khan also allowed a real spirit possess him for the filming of the song from the movie "Mangal Pandey". His dedication levels are abnormal. 


26. For an actor who is so hardworking and dedicated, it is surprising to know that Aamir Khan is quite lazy when at home. He has the bad habit of not taking a bath often. This interesting fact was shared by many including Zaira Wasim and the Dangal co-stars Fatima and Sanya. 


27. Aamir Khan once shaved off his hair when a girl rejected him before he had joined movies. Interestingly, Aamir Khan shaved off his body hair for a song later in the movie 'Baazi' when he dressed up as a girl.


28. His iconic movie Lagaan has many interesting stories. The crew working ethics were so disciplined during the shooting that once the crew even left Aamir Khan as he was late to join the crew bus. 

29. Aamir Khan's sister was the first one to whom Aamir Khan broke the news of his desire to join movies. She has helped him and suggested many movie changes. He regularly takes her suggestions.

33. Aamir Khan with his endorsement campaign for Coca Cola really helped the company once again emerge big in the Indian market when Aamir Khan signed up. Coca Cola was facing a slump due to the rumours about its products quality. The tag line "Thanda matlab Coca Cola" became a rage.

34. Aamir Khan also endorsed Titan watches. The sales of the watch saw an overall growth in the sales and also the market share of Titan after his endorsements.

35. As per a survey of Indian bloggers, Aamir Khan emerged as the most favourite Brand Ambassador with Amitabh Bachchan coming second. This proves the kind of trust Aamir Khan enjoys amongst the people.

49. Mahesh Babu, the South supestar is also an Aamir Khan fan. He has been hugely inspired by Aamir Khan's approach to different kinds of cinema and his dedication.

50. Finally, a fact which is interesting and also true to the best of my knowledge. Aamir Khan in India has perhaps the most hidden fan following. His fans might not be seen standing outside his bungalow for hours or he might not have the biggest twitter following amongst the Indian celebs(though he has the most number of true twitter fans instead of bots which was reported recently by twitter), his box office successes indicate that his fan following is the biggest in India. He is truly named as "Biggest movie star in the world" by the prestigious Forbes magazine enjoying immense popularity in India, China, Turkey, Hong Kong, Taiwan, North America, Brazil, Russia, Pakistan, Middle East and various other countries.
