Dil Hai ke Manta Nahin, directed by Mahesh bhatt, starring Aamir khan and Pooja Bhatt is a joy ride. A typical boy meeds girl rom com, Aamir khan stars in it as "Raghu Jetly", an unusual character name, with that cap of a sailor, the movie was a run away hit. The movie offers you brilliant pieces of romance, comedy, chart topping music by Nadeem Shravan and of course Aamir khan at his chirpiest best. Watch the scenes with Pooja Bhatt where he is constantly fighting with her, his expressions in the song " Mere Mehboob mein" or the comical brilliance, Aamir khan does it all with elan. Dil hai ke Maanta Nahin is the kind of movie you cannot get tired of watching again and again on a lazy evening. All lovers of romantic comedies are sure to fall in love with this.

Aamir khan specially worked on the look of his character in the movie. Even though a normal character of a boy falling in love, Aamir khan gave a different look to it, added a few nuances to make the character stand out. He almost searched through hundreds of caps before zeroing on the famous "sailor cap" in the movie. The songs of the movie still play around in many parts of the nation. However, watch out the movie if you wanna fall in love with the romantic Aamir khan with a touch of comic brilliance.

The songs are magical in this romantic comedy. Nadeem Shravan does it again. Tu Pyar Hai Kisi Aur Ka, Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin, Mere Mehboob Mein and all other songs in the movie are popular. It is the kind of music album you would cherish. It has melody written all over it.
Yours truly has seen the movie umpteen times and still my heart yearns for more. What to do.. DIL HAI KE MAANTA NAHIN

AKELE HUM AKELE TUM-Aamir Shines Again!

Akele hum Akele tum , a movie directed by Mansoor Khan and starring Manisha Koirala alongside Aamir khan was an average at the box office at most. However, you still cannot discount Aamir khan's brilliant performance in the movie as a lover, as a father to a son, the egoistic clashes with his wife. Based on the movie "Kramer vs Kramer", Akele Hum Akele Tum is a highly watchable movie because of the emotions, the brilliant music by Anu Malik and of course the magnificent Aamir khan. Songs are an integral part of Indian movies and the performance of the actors in the songs is also a huge factor in determining the actor's potential. Watch out Aamir khan in a rockstar avatar in "Aisa zakhm diya hain", Aamir khan in the heart breaking classic "Why did you break my heart" and the melodious "Raja ko Rani se Pyar hogaya". Akele Hum Akele Tum is still a favourite of many who have a liking for emotions and relationships. Watch Akele Hum Akele Tum if you are in a relationship, if you have a family. Even if not, watch it for the ever competent Aamir khan.

RAJA HINDUSTANI

     RAJA HINDUSTANI-A MEGA BLOCKBUSTER

In 1996, Aamir khan came up with the Dharmesh Darshan directed "Raja Hindustani". Aamir khan played the role of a taxi-driver who from a small town. Paired along with Karishma Kapoor, the movie which released along with the Sunny deol starrer "Ghatak" rewrote box office records. The film became a mega blockbuster, in fact considered to be among the top three highest grossing movies of the 90s. Footfalls indicate that Raja Hindustani worked everywhere from small towns, villages to cities. It connected with everyone as it had a love track, chart buster music, a family angle and of course the brilliant Aamir khan. Karishma kapoor became a star with this movie even though she had done many movies prior to it. Raja Hindustani really brought her into the big league.

The movie inspired by the Shashi kapoor starrer "Jab jab phool khilen" had again Aamir khan doing what he does best. Surprise you with his act. You can see flashes of brilliant method acting in this one too. Aamir khan really got drunk for his act in the song "Tere ishq mein nachenge". With that cap on his head and a jaded dress, Aamir khan really looked the part. Be it dancing to the chart buster tunes of Nadeem shravan, to romancing with Karishma Kapoor to conveying the pain of a jilted lover, Aamir khan did it all with aplomb. Raja Hindustani made Aamir khan a super duper star, a superstar that was here to stay forever.

The movie also had blockbuster music again by Nadeem-Shravan. "Pardesi Pardesi" , "Kitna Pyara Tujhe Rab Ne Banaya", "Aaye Ho Meri Zindagi Mein" and "Tere Ishq Mein Nachenge" all were chartbusters and still the songs play on the TV and on people's playlists.

Aamir khan and his journey of rejecting awards

Rangeela also marked the beginning of Aamir khan's differences with popular entertainment awards in India. Aamir khan was nominated for the filmfare awards for his performance in Rangeela for the year and rightly so. Aamir khan and majority of the public believed Aamir khan should have won for his brilliant performance in Rangeela. When Aamir khan was deprived of his well deserved award, Aamir khan made a very conscious decision to avoid all future award ceremonies. He believes that entertainment award ceremonies are usually fake and do not recognize true talent. It is more of a song and dance festival and hardly believes in the recognition of true talent of an artist. He has maintained his stand till this day. When the whole of Bollywood is attending the award ceremonies, Aamir khan had the guts to stand on his decision. Many would argue that the same Aamir Khan went out of his way promoting Lagaan at the oscars, however it is a different aspect altogether. Lagaan was selected as the entry from Indian films and any movie that gets selected from the list of foreign films is also a matter of huge respect for the nation. Lagaan was only the third film after Mother India, Salaam Bombay to have achieved the feat. Also, the academy awards are highly respected all across the world. Many of Aamir khan's fans including yours truly believes that Aamir khan did the right thing in distancing himself from the awards.

Aamir Khan won the best debut award for his very first lead movie "Qayamat Se Qayamat tak" at the Filmfare awards. He did receive many other awards at the entertainment awards of Bollywood and also National award. However, as Aamir Khan himself does not believe in awards, we as hardcore fans of his also give little importance to awards.

The biggest award he has achieved is the love and trust that he enjoys amongst his fans across the globe.

Rangeela-a Knockout performance

Aamir khan's next release Rangeela directed by Ramgopal varma, a star director down south was a sensation. It was the first movie where A.R. Rehman first scored music directly for a Bollywood movie. Rangeela had blockbuster music, Rangeela had the sensuous Urmila Matondkar swaying to the lilting tunes of Rahman, Rangeela had the technical wizadry of Ram Gopal Varma, but then above everything the heart of Rangeela is the absolutely brilliant performance of Aamir khan. As a mumbai tapori, Aamir khan just went into the skin of the character. I strongly feel that Rangeela would not have worked without Aamir khan and his performance even though it had the other factors. Simply because Aamir khan's performance just holds the movie together. Every scene of Aamir khan in this movie is a brilliant lesson in method acting. Watch out from his first scene where he is seen selling the movie tickets in black outside a theater or the scene in the restaurant, his tapori tiff in the theater or his brilliant silences in the song "Pyar yeh jaane kaisa hain", this is a performance that is a knock out. Many actors have tried the Mumbai tapori character before however have fallen flat. Aamir khan not only imbibed the body language, he also immersed himself into the tapori diction, clothing and walk. This is method acting at its finest. Rangeela for me is one of the finest performances ever in Bollywood by any actor.

Watch out this one scene and you will know what I am talking about.

Aamir khan spent time with the taporis of movie to get into the skin of the character, to observe their way of talk, walk, clothing. He is absolutely particular about the making of a character. Ramgopal Varma himself has told in an interview that Aamir khan gave many valuable suggestions for the improvement of Rangeela. It is the very reason that Aamir khan makes a particular project more viable, better and worthy of repeat value. I do not trust a director's skill if he has succeeded with an Aamir khan movie. Its because there are so many inputs of Aamir khan involved in it. You can only judge him without an Aamir khan in it.

Analysis of Aamir khan's performance in Rangeela: If you wanna make an analysis of Aamir khan's performance in Rangeela, you need to understand the nuances of acting. Probably, people who are aware of method acting can catch the nuances. However, let me present some of the minute details in his performance that you can catch up. Observe Aamir khan's walk into the restaurant wearing the yellow coloured dress with Urmila, you can see an air of arrogance we usually identify with a tapori. What I have observed of taporis is that they really like self appreciation. Aamir khan's character shows many instances of it, when he praises his own attires, not awed even when confronted by Jackie Shroff in the restaurant, he tries to hold his own against a movie star.

That is the basic trait of a tapori. Aamir khan deliciously inculcated that trait without ever going overboard. It does not sound irritating, it sounds lovable because of the humane touch he gives to the character. Also, look out for the theatre scene where he gets into a fight with a man sitting on his front seat. I have observed so many characters who visit a cinema hall just to enjoy themselves. They hardly care for the comfort of others. Ready to get into a fight at the drop of the hat. These kind of small nuances have been brilliantly incorporated by Aamir khan in Rangeela.

RANGEELA MAGIC STILL CONTINUES: Rangeela also started a very important bond of Aamir khan with maestro A. R. Rahman, who along with Aamir were to give some of the most memorable sound tracks of Indian cinema going forward. Rangeela was the first movie of A. R. Rehman and Ram Gopal verma in Bollywood. It remains RGV's biggest hit in bollywood till date even though he has made umpteen movies. The music of Rangeela, Aamir khan's dialogues in Rangeela, his clothing, Urmila matondkar's dances make Rangeela a must watch for cinema lovers.

The magic of Rangeela still continues.

BAAZI-Aamir Khan shows his versatality again

The next release of Aamir khan was Baazi in 1995. Directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar, the movie had Aamir khan playing a cop for the first time. Aamir khan played a serious cop fighting against the crime. Though not a success, the movie gave glimpses of Aamir khan venturing into territories not known to him and also an impression that he could play tougher roles. It had decent music with the song "Jaane mujhe kya huva" at its melodious best.

The movie though not a huge success gave Aamir Khan many opportunities to display his versatility. He was playing the cop for the first time, he even got transformed into a girl for the song in the movie named Dole Dole Dil Dole.

Also, watch out the amazing transformation of Aamir khan when he is almost unrecognizable as a girl in a song. He didn't make it look comical and actually its difficult to even recognize him.His dedication for a role and even for a particular scene is evident. Most male actors make it comical when they do a transformation for the character of a girl, however Aamir khan made it look authentic. Watch out.

Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke-Vintage Aamir Khan

Next release for Aamir khan was a very cute movie named 'Hum hai Rahi pyar ke' in 1993. Aamir khan played the uncle for four naughty kids in the movie and gave a subdued performance. With brilliant music and Aamir khan himself as the screenwriter for the movie, the movie was a success. Hum Hain Rahi Pyar ke is a personal favourite of many now for its innocence, charm, music and of course Aamir khan. The movie was awarded the best film in the Filmfare awards. If you wish to enjoy a cute, feel good  movie on a lazy afternoon, this is the film for you. Its songs are a personal favourite of mine.

Hum Hain Rahi Pyar ke is the story of Aamir Khan, an uncle to four lovable and

mischievous kids. Aamir Khan gives a very composed performance in this movie considering it required him to play an uncle to four kids. However, the vintage Aamir khan is still there. His comic timing, his silences in the emotional scenes and his charm all take over. The songs are a delight too in this lovable movie. Songs like Ghoonghat ki aad se, Bombai se gayi Poona, Mujhse Mohabbat Ka and Yun hi Kat Jayega Safar are melodious best. Nadeem Shravan once again provided soulful music to this cute little movie.
