Aamir khan-A friend you can count on always

I am tempted to write this post after reading a recent article about the genius Aamir khan helping his Dangal technician when he was going through extreme health conditions. This is only one of the few stories that I have heard through my long time admiration for Aamir khan. He has always been the true friend that you can count upon in adverse situations. He is the simplest of persons and never carries his super stardom image. I will post some of the examples which give a hint of the great upbringing and character this man shows. A rare quality in today's times when people do not have even time for their near and dear ones.

Not many know that Javed Akhtar has a big role in Aamir khan's launch as an actor. One day, Aamir khan, then an assistant director entered into the room where Javed Akhtar and Nasir Hussain were discussing on the film. Javed Akhtar asked about the boy and Nasir sahab replied that he was the assistant director and also his brother's son. Javed Akhtar quoted "Isko to hero banna chaahiye" (He should become a hero). I think that point from Javed Akhtar somewhere stuck in the mind of Nasir Hussain and he thought of launching Aamir khan in Qayamat se Qayamat Tak. Aamir khan has always been grateful of this fact and I always observe he gives that special respect to Javed Sahab whenever he meets him.

Another example of the character of Aamir khan. Once a distributor walked to the hospital to meet the ailing Neeraj Vora who was suffering from acute illness. He was surprised to see Aamir khan sitting there next to Neeraj and enquiring about his health. Neeraj had been an old friend of Aamir and also seen in quite a few movies of Aamir. Ran Bansal wrote on twitter how he was moved by the gesture of the superstar.

Aamir khan is very protective of all his crew members. He takes care of them as his own family. Even in the crew of Lagaan, most of the cast grew close to Aamir. Right from Pradeep Rawat to Raghuvir Yadav to even Paul Blackthorne. Pradeep Rawat says that Aamir khan is the most easily approachable superstar. He himself walked to Aamir khan with the script of Ghajini as he had done the original in Tamil. He persuaded Aamir khan to watch the movie once and he obliged. He is perhaps the only actor to whom even a novice can walk upto if has a brilliant script up his sleeve.

Journalist Faridoon Shahrayar also made a remark about the simplicity of this megastar. When he once rang the bell of his house for an interview, was surprised to see Aamir himself opening the door and welcoming him inside. The greatness of the man is his simplicity, his humility. Satyameva Jayate was a fine example of his humility and compassionate nature when he highlighted the issues which were taboo like the LGBT community. The work "Paani foundation" is doing in the villages of Maharashtra is legendary too. Working for the farmer's and their issues of water, giving away his valuable time when he could easily do a couple of movies in the time allotted to it.

Aamir khan is a feminist to the core. He himself admitted that he did mistakes in his earlier movies when there were some scenes or songs which were offensive to the women. Take for example the song from Dil movie "Khambe jaisi khadi hain". He does not think twice to accept his mistakes. He treats women with utmost respect. Feminist is not the one who is partial to women. Feminist is the one who just gives equal respect to both men and women. In an industry and society where women still are not given their due, people like Aamir khan certainly are absolutely needed.

Superstars come, superstars go. What stays forever is the character they exhibit.  What stays forever is how they lived their lives. Aamir khan is a true Megastar in real and reel life.
