Absolutely, they should be proud of the fact that Aamir khan is perhaps the biggest movie star of the world because of his choices, because of his decisions to tread the path less travelled, not getting seduced into the commercial choices to cash in of his previous blockbusters.
Take for example, Taare Zameen par. Aamir khan could have done any commercial potboiler and earned crores but he chose a movie in which he was a mere supporting actor and the central character was a child. He did a Dangal after the Mega success of PK. He did Secret Superstar after the phenomenal success of Dangal wherein he was again playing an extended cameo. It is decisions like these that have earned Aamir khan love, respect and the most important thing i.e. TRUST amongst people not only in India, also across the world. His choice of subjects in different genres, giving the most number of classics has made his fan base across the globe so strong that there is absolutely no star in India who can even come in the vicinity of his box office stamina in world wide collections.
Aamir khan- A VISIONARY
Aamir khan is a visionary in more than one ways. A visionary when it comes to his script choices, a visionary when it comes to the performances and a visionary when it comes to the box office and marketing strategy for a movie. Aamir khan was perhaps the first star to realise the potential of the box office market in China. His first movie release there Lagaan was appreciated but at that time, the Chinese movie market was not huge. SRK released three of his movies there and they did not do good business. When 3 idiots became a sensation in China, after being mostly watched on the video circuit or online, Aamir khan realised the potential of China box office. PK broke the 100 crore barrier in China, Dangal the 1000 crore barrier and even a small movie like Secret Superstar doing amazing business in China. You can watch his press conference years ago when he predicted that the Chinese market will overtake the North America in coming years. In fact , in a few years, it is bound to happen. Even Hollywood movies are now looking at China for their movie revenues. This is just one of the examples of the vision of the great Aamir Khan.
Aamir khan has been a marketing genius right from "Qayamat se Qayamat Tak" days. He himself did most of the film's promotions which included sticking the movie posters on the back of autorickshaws.

Right from those days till now, Aamir khan never indulges in the usual marketing. He never over promotes a movie. He makes the audience aware of his movie content and is also sincere about his movie. Delhi Belly, an A Rated movie was promoted sincerely by Aamir khan. He frankly told the audience before the movie release that it is for the adults and has expletives. This is the kind of sincerity that has made Aamir khan the biggest brand of Indian Cinema now. People blindly trust an Aamir khan movie. When you know an Aamir khan movie is coming, it is bound to be good, most likely to be a classic, it is bound to gross huge, it is expected to an ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER. Even if it doesn't, it certainly will win your heart with its content, performance and the ever reliable Aamir khan. From the box office to IMDB, Aamir khan is the king of all.
So, WHY SHOULD WE NOT BE PROUD OF HIM?
