The motion poster of the first lead in Thugs of Hindostan has been unveiled. It is none other than that of BIG B. Amitabh Bachchan. Dressed as the commander of the Thugs, Amitabh Bachchan looks certainly a commander in charge. With a scintillating background score elevating the motion poster of KHUDABAKSH, Amitabh Bachchan seems to be giving us glimpses of his good old days. The days where the whole of nation was swayed by this man for years.
I have always followed Amitabh Bachchan movies right from childhood. During the good old days of Doordarshan, his movie on every weekend was like a festival to us. My dad belonged to the era when the Big B magic started. When he arrived on the Indian Silver screen as the angry young man and swayed the whole nation. From Zanjeer to Deewar, from Sholay to Shakti, from Lawaris to a Muqaddar ka Sikandar, I loved them all. For me, Big B was always a man who was made for larger than life roles. He has always meant to be the one who would be the rebel. Always a man fighting against the system. In Thugs of Hindostan, he seems to be the commander of the Thugs army, the man who would be the leader of the pack, angry, ruthless and of course larger than life in the inimitable Big B style.
During his illustrious career, Big B has played a variety of roles in bollywood movies. He has excelled in every role he has played. He played a simpleton in Chupke Chupke, he played a villager in Saudagar, he played a father role in nearly half a dozen movies, he played as a cop in movies so many that I cannot even count. He kept the whole nation in awe of him from the mid 70's till the early 90's. However, as every superstar would have it, he started slowly fading and gave way to the new breed of stars like Aamir Khan.
Big B had a come back again with the TV show "Kaun Banega Crorepati" and once again proved to the nation that he still had it in him to keep the people glued. Be it the big screen or the idiot box, he had the charisma to make the people take a notice of it. He also made a comeback on to the big screen with movies like Sarkar, BaghBan, Mohabbatein to name a few. It is high absolute discipline that Amitabh Bachchan even after all these years, still works with the same ethics and passion. Even after achieving so much, he still has that hunger in his eyes to succeed. I guess that's what superstars are made of.
Aamir Khan has always been a great admirer of Mr. Amitabh Bacchan. This movie offered him the opportunity to star along with him. I, as an avid movie goer of Bollywood movies, would always wish to see Big B play roles larger than life. Though Mr. Bachchan can play and do justice to all kinds of roles, it is his larger than life roles that have made him the star that he is today. Any hardcore Amitabh Bachchan fan would agree with me. They all want him to go back to his glorious old days where he had great entry scenes, used to mouth one liners with a dead pan style, the angry look on his face and his legendary voice and walk. We all wanted that Amitabh Bachchan back. We saw a few glimpses in RGV's Sarkar years ago, however with the Thugs of Hindostan new poster released, it seems all hardcore Amitabh Bachchan fans are in for a treat. BIG B is back to his good old days.. The angry young man is back. Khudabaksh is arriving!
