Thugs of Hindostan, Aamir khan's next release which is slated for a Diwali release is probably the movie event of the year in India. Aamir khan fans including me are getting restless as there has been no poster release, teaser release, trailer release yet. To all the Aamir khan fans and the trade pundits out there, let me stress on the fact that there is little to worry. Aamir khan has accumulated such good will amongst the movie going public in India and across the globe that even if he releases the movie just a couple of weeks after the trailer release, the results will be the same. Aamir khan, the biggest movie star of the world who can deliver an All time blockbuster with a movie like Dangal, which did not have any regular ingredients that you usually associated with a commercial bollywood movie, still went on to become the biggest grosser in Bollywood ever. Now, that's the box office enigma of Aamir khan and his pull at the ticket window.
Another misleading fact that needs to be cleared about Thugs of Hindustan is that the movie has generated buzz because of Amitabh Bachchan too. With due respect to Mr. Bachchan, we all need to realise that Amitabh is already past his prime in his ability to be a box office force. His last release 102 Not out did good business at the box office, however it was not a super hit or a blockbuster. Every Superstar has his time. So, why there is such a big buzz when Aamir khan collaborates with Amitabh Bachchan. The answer is simple. The answer is Aamir khan. Aamir khan, when he does a commercial movie like Ghajini or Dhoom 3 always gives blockbusters. In fact, all time blockbusters. No actor when collaborated with Amitabh Bachchan has been able to give an All time blockbuster. Shahrukh Khan gave a big hit in form of Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, however it was not an all time blockbuster. He also gave a dud along with him in the form of Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. With other stars, the story has been worse. Take for example, Akshay Kumar. He has collaborated with Mr. Bachchan on numerous occasions in movies like Khakhee, Waqt, Aankhen, Ek Rishta etc and he has hardly made a significant impact. Similar is the story of Salman Khan and Ajay devgan. They gave duds like God Tussi Great Ho and Hindustan ki Kasam with Big B.
Aamir khan has been already been given a contract to be a paid 70 percent of the profit share of Thugs of Hindostan. Now, it is an answer to all those critics saying the buzz is due to his collaboration with Amitabh Bachchan. Yes, the collaboration has generated a buzz, but the movie will solely ride on the global box office pull of the biggest superstar of the world i.e. Aamir Khan. Yes, the trailer, poster or the teaser of the movie is still not released. Even his hard core fans do not know much about the movie, there are so many rumours floating about the dates on which there will be some announcement of the movie poster and so on. Even as I write this post, I can assure you like all the distributors, theatre owners and the general public on the ground who are absolutely certain of the movie mega success.
When it is Aamir khan, simply believe in him. After all, he has seldom broken our trust.
